Suicide rates in the United States have been climbing for 20 years, following a 15-year period of decline. Rates are increasing in almost all demographic groups. This was true before the pandemic.
Suicides are often preventable. There are not enough mental health professionals, nor is there adequate access to mental health care, to address this national crisis. However, all of us may be able to help prevent suicide by being willing to ask our friends, neighbors, co-workers, and family members questions when we are concerned that they may be struggling with thoughts of hurting themselves.
On Tuesday, April 13, at 7:00 PM, Dr. Dale Wisely, will be on YouTube Live to give us straightforward ways we can communicate with those we worry may be suicidal. Dr. Wisely is a clinical psychologist with more than 35 years’ experience as an educator on mental health topics, including depression and suicide.
Please consider viewing this 30-minute program, even if you have not yet encountered this concern in your life yet. You soon may!
To view the live program, return to this website on Tuesday, April 13, at 7:00 PM.
The program will be recorded and available on YouTube for later viewing.
