Professional Bio

Dale Wisely, Ph.D. is the Director of Parish Health at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Hoover, Alabama. Prior to joining Prince of Peace in 2018, he was Director of Student Services and Community Education at Mountain Brook Schools for 12 years. He has been a child and adolescent clinical psychologist for 42 years.

Dr. Wisely also consults for All In Mountain Brook, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that offers programs designed to help protect and enhance the lives of youth. He was a co-founder of that organization and retired as Executive Director. He serves on their Board of Directors and provides programs through the organization.

Dale Wisely was certified in study area of moral injury by the Shay Moral Injury Training Center in December 2023. He now is on a team that facilitates training sessions for the Center.

Dr. Wisely’s M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in clinical psychology are from the University of Memphis. He served his clinical internship at West Virginia University School of Medicine, Department of Behavioral Medicine in Charleston. He also earned a Master’s in Theological Studies from Spring Hill College, a Jesuit college in Mobile, Alabama. He was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama and, for 14 years, the senior psychologist at the Vaughan Clinic, now Children’s Behavioral Health at Children’s of Alabama. He practiced clinical psychology including assessment, psychotherapy, and pediatric psychology in Birmingham from 1983 to 2006. Dr. Wisely has taught and held adjunct faculty appointments at the University of Alabama, the University of Alabama-Birmingham, and Spring Hill College. He currently is on the adjunct faculty at Samford University, where he teaches undergraduates.

Dale Wisely is a past president of the Alabama Psychological Association, whose Distinguished Service to Professional Psychology award he received twice. In 2022, he was appointed by the Governor to serve on the Alabama Board of Examiners in Psychology. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Crisis Center, the Jefferson County Children’s Policy Cooperative, Alabama Children First, All In Mountain Brook, Community Grief Support, and the Alabama Child Death Review System. Dr. Wisely writes and operates a public service website, Parenting Teen Drivers, which includes a free parent-teen contract that has been in wide use nationally for more than 20 years. He is a popular adult educator and speaker on family matters, parenting, and provides workshops and other professional development to a range of professional and public audiences.
